BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Arizona State University wrestling team improved to 2-1 to start the 2012-13 season, posting a shutout victory against Campbell on Saturday but coming just shy of unseating Bloomsburg in a epic dual.

Following a victory against North Carolina last night, The Sun Devils fell to Bloomsburg, 18-16, to open Saturday’s competition in Buies Creek, N.C., but rebounded for a 43-0 rout of Campbell in the nightcap.

Recaps of each contest are below.  The Sun Devil will take on The Citadel tomorrow at 12 p.m. ET to round out its opening weekend of competition.

Nathan Hoffer became the first Sun Devil to three wins on the year as he took an 18-7 major decision over Daniel Luty before Codey Combs won the 157 matchup to a medical forfeit.

Bloomsburg followed that with a Nick Wilcox pin over Shane McGough just 1:28 into the match to go ahead 9-0 just two bouts into the dual but Matt Kraus answered with a 13-5 major decision over Matt Rappo for his first victory as a Sun Devil to bring ASU back within 9-4.
