TEMPE, Ariz. - Sun Devil Athletics is adding two full-time staff members and one consultant to support development efforts for the Sun Devil Club, Vice President of University Athletics Steve Patterson announced today.

ASU hired Cooper Jones as the Sun Devil Club's Executive Associate AD, Gabe Cagwin as the Associate AD, and Tom Collins as a Special Consultant to Senior Associate AD Rocky Harris. The Sun Devil Club also promoted Bob Vossoughi to focus on Leadership Giving for the athletics department.

Jones will lead the Sun Devil Club and will report to Harris and be the liaison to Dave Willis in the ASU Foundation. Cagwin will primarily focus on development and will report to Jones, while Harris will be the direct liaison to the Sun Devil Club Board of Directors.

"The Sun Devil Club has made great strides over the past six months and I am confident that it will continue to move in a positive direction under this new leadership team," Patterson said. "The Sun Devil Club plays an important role not only to the future of Sun Devil Athletics, but to the growth of Arizona State University and the impact on our community."

"The new leadership team has proven themselves in a variety of capacities at a number of different places," Gregg Tryhus said. "I am very pleased with these new additions to the Sun Devil Club and I look forward to working with them on some new and exciting projects."

Prior to joining the Sun Devil Club, Jones was the Senior Associate AD of Development at the University of North Texas. He was instrumental in helping UNT complete its 30,850-seat football stadium, which is the first newly constructed college football stadium in the nation to be awarded a LEED Platinum Certification, the highest level of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design status.

As the Assistant Athletics Director of Development and Major Gifts at the University of Louisville, Jones helped the athletic development unit reach new levels as support for athletic scholarships rose to 9,400 donors giving $11 million annually during his tenure. He was the Director of Major Gifts at Maryland from 2002-06 after starting his career in development at Georgia Tech.

At each stop, Jones has led campaigns that expanded or built completely new football stadiums and/or basketball arenas, including raising $65 million in support of Louisville athletics facilities in his four years with the Cardinals.

Jones, who earned a bachelor's degree in journalism and public relations in 2000 from Ohio University, was a three-year letterwinner and senior captain for the Bobcats football team.

Gabe Cagwin served as Assistant Athletics Director of Development for UCLA, where he oversaw a $135 million campaign to renovate Pauley Pavilion, among other responsibilities, before joining the Sun Devil Club.

He has also had stints as Associate Director of Development at Penn State University, Director of Academic Advising at Tulsa University and Assistant to the Vice President of Institutional Advancement at St. John Fisher College.

Cagwin played basketball at the University of Buffalo and earned his bachelor's degree in 2002 and his master's degree in higher education/student affairs in 2004. He also earned his Ph.D in Higher Education Administration from Buffalo in 2006.

Collins isn't a stranger to Arizona State University having served 20 years in several capacities in the athletics department, including Senior Associate AD from 2000-06. He left ASU in 2006 to take the Athletics Director position at Ball State.

He played a big part in the Scheumann Stadium project at Ball State and his determination in fundraising helped create the Briner Sports Complex, which houses a number of new facilities for many women's teams.

Prior to joining ASU, Collins worked as assistant athletic director at the University of Miami and as the ticket manager at Washington State. Collins earned his bachelor's degree from Northern Arizona University. Collins role with Sun Devil Athletics will be a part-time consulting position.

Vossoughi, who started at ASU in 2007, has been with the Sun Devil Club as the Sr. Major Gifts Officer since 2010 and prior to that, was the Director of Development for the College of Public Programs. He has also had stints as a Development Officer with the Arizona Council on Economic Education and the Program Director for the Arthritis Foundation.

Vossoughi earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master's in Sports Management from the University of San Francisco in 1996 and '98, respectively. He played four years of tennis at USF and was named West Coast Conference All-League in 1995.
