ANN ARBOR, MICH. -
The Arizona State Sun Devils women's tennis team wrapped up the first weekend of pre-season play at the Wolverine Invitation hosted by the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich. on Sunday afternoon.
"It was a tough day today as Georgia really played well in the singles matches. They are a very good team and did not give us an inch, beating us soundly in the three singles matches," head coach Sheila McInerney said.
As with any pre-season play, ASU knows that these matches are for a purpose -- to realize what skills need to be developed for the upcoming season.
"We did not play as poorly as the scores indicated as Georgia made next to no unforced errors and they competed great. Definitely gives us a good gauge of where we need to improve," McInerney said. "All in all a really strong tournament with three top-ten teams competing. We will take a lot away from this weekend moving forward."
