TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State junior Deven Marrero has been named to the first watch list for 2012 Brooks Wallace Shortstop of the Year Award, which is given annually to the nation's top shortstop.

Marrero, a native of Davie, Fla., has started 41 games at shortstop this season and has 15 multiple-hit games and seven multiple-RBI games. He has recorded 23 RBI, 45 hits, including four triples and three homers, and scored 30 runs.

He is seventh in the Pac-12 in assists with 124 and ranks second on the team in RBI, hits and runs scored in 21 Pac-12 games. He has secured a hit in 29 games this year and had an 11-game hitting streak from March 31 to April 17.

The Wallace Award will be presented on June 30 in Lubbock, Texas, as part of the College Baseball Hall of Fame's Night of Champions.

Marrero is one of 50 players named to the initial list, including seven from the Pac-12, which is tied with the Southeastern Conference for the most in any league.

The Sun Devils host Utah for a three-game Pac-12 series Friday-Sunday at Packard Stadium. All three games will be broadcast live by Sun Devil Sports Network on The Fan AM 1060 and will also be webcast by FoxSportsArizona.com. The games on Friday and Saturday are slated for a 6:30 p.m. start, while Sunday's contest will begin at 12:30

Cory Hahn Nights: Every Friday night, ASU's portion of the 50/50 raffle, which takes place at all Sun Devil baseball home games, is going to support Cory Hahn's fund. This started on April 23 against California and will continue through the end of the season. The Devils' next midweek game against Arizona on May 16 will be Cory Hahn Fund "Pass The Bucket" Night, where a volunteer will be present at every section passing buckets for donations to Cory's fund. The first "Pass The Bucket Night" took place on April 17 against Arizona and fans raised more than $4,000 for Cory and his family.
