Sun Devil Women's Cross Country Dominates Artichoke Invite

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Arizona State University women’s cross country team dominated the Artichoke Invitational at Scottsdale Community College Saturday, with eight student-athletes finishing in the top ten.

True freshman Kaitlin Kaluzny led the Sun Devils snagging a first place finish in her first-ever collegiate race. Kaluzny ran the 5k race in 18:40.5 only a mere second faster than the second place freshman Adriana Olivas who competed unattached from the Sun Devils.

Rounding out the top five of the meet were Sun Devils freshman Alexia Velarde in third (19:08.9), sophomore Kayla Springford fourth (19:11.9) and sophomore Dalanne Bartlette in fifth (19:24.7).

Sophomore Shaina Corbin placed sixth in the meet, tagging the Sun Devil squad with 15 points to finish the invitational as the first place team by a 28-point margin.

Unattached Sun Devils sophomore Carly Paracholski and freshman Marcella Cartledge finished eighth and ninth respectively.

The Sun Devil women’s cross country team next head to Tucson, Ariz. to compete in the Dave Murray Invitational Friday, Sept. 14.
