TEMPE, Ariz. - Former Arizona State baseball stars Andrew Romine and Jason Kipnis will play in the Arizona Fall League's annual Rising Stars Game on Saturday at Surprise Stadium. Romine, who is playing for the Mesa Solar Sox, will suit up for the East Division, while Kipnis, a member of the Peoria Javelinas, will play for the West Division.

Romine starred at ASU from 2005 to 2007 before being drafted by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Romine made his Major League debut for the Angels in September after spending the entire Minor League season with the AA Arkansas Travelers.

Kipnis spent two seasons at ASU winning Pac-10 Newcomer of the year in 2008 and Pac-10 Player of the Year in 2009. He was a second round pick of the Cleveland Indians and spent the majority of the 2010 season with the AA Akron Aeros. He was called up to the AAA Columbus Clippers for the postseason, helping lead the Clippers to the AAA championship. He hit for the cycle in the International League title game, then fell a single short of the cycle in the AAA Title Game.

The fifth annual Rising Stars Game will take place on Saturday, November 6 from Surprise Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. and the game will be televised on MLB Network and on MLB.com.

Travis Buck, Jeff Larish, Brett Wallace, Ike Davis and Mike Leake are all former Sun Devils who played in the AFL's Rising Stars Game and went on to play Major League Baseball.
