LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced the NFCA Division I National Coaching Staffs of the Year and the staff under former coach Clint Myers was tabbed the West Region distinction.
Arizona State University finished the season 50-12 overall and second in the Pac-12 Conference with a 16-8 record. In Clint Myers’ eighth and final season with the Sun Devils, he was award the West Region Coaching Staff of the Year alongside associate head coach Chuck D’Arcy, assistant coach Scott Woodard and volunteer coach Casey Myers.
For the seventh time in eight seasons, third in a row and 11th time overall, Arizona State advanced to the WCWS after spending the entire 2013 season as one of the top 15 teams in the NFCA rankings.
The Sun Devils opened the season at a perfect 21-0, eventually posting a 50-win season while tying for second in the Pac-12 Conference race at 16-8. ASU was 5-2 in the NCAA Tournament, the program's 25th appearance; 3-0 in the Regional (wins over San Jose State and Georgia-two), 2-0 in the Super Regional (vs. No. 19 Kentucky) and 0-2 in the Women's College World Series (losses to Texas and Michigan).
