TEMPE, Ariz. – Arizona State University’s new softball coach Craig Nicholson will retain associate head coach Chuck D’Arcy.

“We are fortunate to be able to keep Chuck as our pitching coach. His reputation as an outstanding teacher will allow us to continue to bring great pitchers into our program,” head coach Craig Nicholson said. “More importantly his ability to mentor and develop talented young pitchers will help us continue the success of Sun Devil softball. I believe Chuck be able to help in my transition and give our staff and players a little continuity as we prepare for the upcoming season.”

Chuck D’Arcy recently completed his third season with Arizona State, joining the staff in 2011 as the pitching coach. In his time as a Sun Devil, he has been a member of three coaching staffs named the NFCA West Region Staff of the Year. D’Arcy was an assistant coach that oversaw the pitchers for the USA National Team that won silver at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China.

A six-time All-American as a player (four ASA, one ISC Worlds, one Masters), D’Arcy is the only current coach at Arizona State with an Olympic medal as a member of the 2008 USA Softball silver medalist team.

During his tenure at ASU, D’Arcy has helped the Sun Devils to a 163-29 record over a span of three seasons – including a national championship in 2011.
