The Sun Devil Club and the Dana Law Firm held the annual Kickoff Reception on Thursday night at the Montelucia Resort in Scottsdale.
The event, which attracted a variety of guests like head coach Todd Graham, Athletic Director Steve Patterson and from Arizona State standouts Andrew Walter and Rudy Burgess, kicked off the unofficial start of the Sun Devils’ football season.
“We know game time is a week away because we have this function a week before game time,” said assistant football coach Paul Randolph. “And it’s really important for all of these people to see us off the football field, and know we’re ready to go play.”
Dana Law Firm, the sponsor of the event, announced that they would be donating $500 to Sun Devil Football for each field goal made this season.
“This is our third year being a corporate sponsor and we’re really excited about the team this year,” said founding attorney Matt Dana. “Sun Devil Football is very personal to me…all five of my children are ASU grads.”
While attendees ate, panels of speakers including Steve Patterson, Todd Graham, and Alden Darby spoke to the crowd about how much their support meant to Sun Devil Football.
“This is an opportunity to thank our biggest fans,” said Graham. “There are people in this room that have held season tickets for 30,40 years. They need to know how much that means to us.”
Added Randolph, “Just to see all the people here, all the support…to me, that speaks volumes.”
“There are so many people that love Sun Devil Football.”
