TEMPE, Ariz.—The Arizona State women’s gymnastics team had four student-athletes named Scholar All-Americans, the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches announced.
Leading the Gym Devils was grad student Kahoku Palafox, who earned a 3.96 GPA in her masters program of Urban and Environmental planning. Palafox, a four-time first-team Pac-12 All-Academic, earned her second NACGC Scholar All-American honor. Palafox was also named the Sun Devil Student-Athlete of the Year for 2012-13. Then senior Amelia Rew, a Barrett Honors College student in bioscience, also earned Scholar All-American honors with a 3.65 GPA.
As underclassmen, Natelle Gentile and Allie Salas each were honored by the NACGC for outstanding academics recording a 3.63 and 3.51 GPA’s, respectively. To be eligible for the NACGC/W All-American team, a student-athlete must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or above during the 2012-13 academic year.
