TEMPE, Ariz.—With the philosophy that success begins with full community support, the Sun Devil Club announces the launch of its ‘Be The Solution’ campaign. Over the span of the next 18 days, the Sun Devil Club will be driving to increase membership to 10,000 members by the Sept. 28 match-up against USC in Sun Devil Stadium.
“The fan base in our community represents a competitive edge to Sun Devil Athletics that has not been captured to its potential in several years,” said Gregg Tryhus, Sun Devil Club board president. “Since we all want success, we believe that there are many fans who would be willing to take at least limited ownership of the community’s responsibility to help make that happen. The Sun Devil Club has been structured to be the conduit for that participation.”
Sun Devil Athletics is doing more with less. In the 20-year history of the Directors’ Cup, measuring overall athletics success, ASU has 14 finishes in the top 15 and has never finished lower than 30th. Sun Devils are also winning in the classroom. Since 2000, ASU has produced 62 Academic All-Americans, seventh best in the country.
Yet, the budget for Sun Devil Athletics is the lowest of any consistent Directors’ Cup top-25 program and ranks in the bottom third in the Pac-12 in both total revenue and annual donations. For ASU to compete in the conference and on a national level, community help is needed. The most successful University athletic programs have a committed community behind them. The Sun Devil Club provides the opportunity to affect change for Sun Devil Athletics and gives ASU fans a chance be a part of Sun Devil Athletics current and future success.
“We want every Sun Devil to help shape our future by joining the Sun Devil Club,” said Rocky Harris, Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Relations. “The Sun Devil Club provides scholarships to our student-athletes, creates a competitive advantage, and enhances our community. Sun Devil Club memberships allow everyone in our community to have an equal stake in our long-term success.”
Sun Devil Nation can help take our program to great heights with the idea that together we can do more. For as little $9 per month or $100 annually, ASU fans will become official Sun Devil Club members with access to information before the public, pre-sales on premium, away and postseason tickets, discounted apparel at Sparky’s Team Shop and discounts from the Sun Devil Club’s Pitchfork Partners.
The Sun Devil Club gives fans the option of using their membership fees towards sports-specific giving. If a fan has a passion or a vested interest in any one of Sun Devil Athletics’ 22 varsity sports, the membership fees will go directly to finance the success of that program.
The Sun Devil Club is a community-owned organization focused on the funding and support of Sun Devil Athletics. Every membership in the Sun Devil Club helps to provide for the academic and athletic pursuits of over 500 student-athletes in 22 varsity sports. The Sun Devil Club’s ability to consistently meet the scholarship needs of our teams and coaches will be the deciding factor in our success as an athletics department in the years ahead.
