LAS VEGAS – Arizona State University senior running back Marion Grice was named the SEVEN Magazine Las Vegas Bowl Pac-12 Player of the Week, according to an announcement by the Las Vegas Bowl on Wednesday.
Grice earned his second career Las Vegas Bowl Pac-12 Player of the Week honor after he ran for 84 yards on 22 carries and four touchdowns in ASU’s 32-30 win over No. 20 Wisconsin on Saturday. He also caught five passes for 50 yards. Three of his four touchdowns came from inside the five-yard line and his fourth was a 12-yard run in the fourth quarter that gave the Sun Devils a 32-24 lead.
After leading the team with 19 touchdowns in 2012, Grice has continued to be a frequent visitor to the end zone this season, scoring six touchdowns over the season’s first two games. He currently leads the nation in scoring, averaging 18.0 points per game.
The Las Vegas Bowl continues its third season of conducting weekly Facebook player-of-the-week polls, driven by fan votes, recognizing exemplary on-field play within the two Bowl affiliated conferences, the Pac-12 and Mountain West. Joining Grice this week was Utah State junior quarterback Chuckie Keeton, who was named the SEVEN Magazine Las Vegas Bowl Mountain West Player of the Week following his performance in the Aggies’ 70-6 win over Weber State.
Each week, players from both the Pac-12 and Mountain West conferences will be selected for nomination and then posted for voting. All college football fans are welcome to cast their vote starting on Monday each week for Player of the Week at www.facebook.com/lvbowl.
The No. 23 Sun Devils hit the road for the first time in 2013 this Saturday (4 p.m. PT) when they travel to Palo Alto, Calif., to take on No. 5 Stanford in the Pac-12 opener for both teams. The game can be seen on FOX 10 and heard on 92.3 KTAR FM.
