ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Arizona State women’s tennis team will open the fall tournament season, Sept. 20-22, at the Wolverine Invitational hosted by University of Michigan.

This season at the Wolverine Invitational, the tournament will assign a point system for wins at each position in the line-up. The winner of the No. 1 spot in the line-up will receive eight points with each spot receiving a decreasing value of points.

Entering her 30th season as the head coach of the Arizona State women’s tennis team, Sheila McInerney becomes one of three head coaches in school history to break the 30-year mark. Only current gymnastics head coach John Spini (1981-present, 34 years) and McInerney’s predecessor Anne Pittman (1954-1984, 30 years) have coach at Arizona State for 30 or more seasons. With McInerney and Pittman, the Sun Devil tennis program has been led by only two coaches over the course of 60 years.

The Sun Devils return four players from their line-up last season including 2012 Thunderbird Invitational runner-up sophomore Desirae Krawczyk, who recorded a 19-12 record at the No. 2 spot in singles. Sophomore Stephanie Vlad also recorded a solid 22-11 singles record in the No. 4 line-up spot.

Arizona State will take on Tulane in singles play this Friday at 11 a.m. ET. Doubles action begins Sat., Sept. 21 at 9:30 a.m. ET against Purdue.
