NORMAN, Okla.—The ninth-ranked Arizona State women’s golf team heads back to Oklahoma, for the second time in one month, to compete in the Schooner Fall Classic, Oct. 5-7, in Norman, Okla.
The tournament, hosted by the University of Oklahoma, is held at the par-70, 6,082-yard Belmar Golf Club and boasts five teams ranked in the top-25, including the Sun Devils. The field features: Arizona State (9), Denver, Florida State, Georgia (17), Kent State, Kentucky (22), LSU, Oklahoma (3), Oklahoma State (6), Pepperdine, SMU, TCU, Texas A&M, Texas State and Texas Tech.
Tee times for the three-round tournament begin at 8:30 a.m. CT from the No. 1 and 10 tee boxes. Live scoring is provided by www.birdiefire.com.
For the Schooner Fall Classic, the Arizona State line-up features: junior Noemi Jimenez, freshman Monica Vaughn, senior Laura Blanco, senior Justine Lee and senior Daniela Ordonez.
Last time out, the Sun Devils took second place at the Mason Rudolph Women’s Championships over nine teams ranked in the top-25. In the first two events of the season, junior Noemi Jimenez has record two, top-10 finishes and holds a 70.50 scoring average.
NOTE - Pro-U: On Monday, Sun Devil Golf alums Giulia Molinaro and Jaclyn Sweeney qualified for their LPGA tour cards after finishing in the top-10 of the Symetra Tour money list. Molinaro was also named the Gaelle Truet Symetra Tour Rookie of the Year, named after the late Arizona State and Futures golfer. Since 2009, the Sun Devils have had six golfers (Anna Nordqvist, Azahara Munoz, Carlota Ciganda, Jennifer Johnson, Giulia Molinaro and Jaclyn Sweeney) earn their LPGA tour cards.
