TEMPE, Ariz.--In the first portion of its first true home meet, Arizona State swimming and diving squared off in a non-scored, short-course meters dual meet against the Denver Pioneers. The two schools will be back in the water Saturday afternoon, along with UNLV, in a back-to-normal, scored, double-dual meet.

The Sun Devils saw good results on Friday, though, taking a combined 16 first-place finishes of the 28 heats. ASU’s women and men both took home first in the first two events of the day, the 200 Medley Relay, and freshman Anna Olasz followed that up with a win in the third event, the 800 meter freestyle. She completed in a time of 8:58.43.

For the men, sophomore Thibaut Capitaine took first in the 50 and 150 Meter Breaststrokes at 28.79 and 1:40.08, respectively. Freshman Barkley Perry also took home a couple of his own first-place finishes, winning the 150 Meter Freestyle with a time of 1:22.06, and the 150 Meter Backstroke with a time of 1:29.48.

Finally healthy, senior Riley McCormick commandingly swept the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard events on the men’s side. The two-time Olympian scored 424.43 on the 3-meter event, over 112 points better than the next competitor. On the women’s side, junior Hailey Casper took first in the women’s 3-meter springboard and sophomore Morgan Weller won the women’s 1-meter event.

Meet time on Saturday is set for Noon PT at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center, where the Devils get the chance to showcase their talent in front of their home crowd.
