TEMPE, Ariz – Three Arizona State University women’s soccer players were recognized by the Pac-12 on Tuesday as the conference announced its annual awards for the 2013 season as voted on by the league’s head coaches.

Recognized by the league were sophomore defender McKenzie Berryhill (All-Pac-12 second team), sophomore forward Cali Farquharson (All-Pac-12 second team) and senior forward Devin Marshall (All-Pac-12 honorable mention).

Berryhill was one of ASU’s key contributors on a Sun Devil back line that posted the team’s best goals against average (1.31) since the 2009 squad that gave up 1.20 goals per game The Sun Devils allowed one or fewer goals 12 times in 2013, including seven shutouts. Among the seven shutouts was ASU’s historic 1-0 win at (then) unbeaten and second-ranked Stanford on Oct. 6, which ended the Cardinal’s 73-game unbeaten streak at home and its 44-game winning streak in conference games. A starter in 34 of 38 career games, including all 19 this season, Berryhill was named to the CS360 Primetime Performers Weekly Honor Roll for her play in ASU’s contests at No. 11 Cal (Oct. 4) and its aforementioned win at No. 2 Stanford.

Farquharson concluded her sophomore season as ASU’s leader in goals (10) and points (22) for the second consecutive season. Four of her goals in 2013 were game winners, the most recent of which came in ASU’s 2-1 double-overtime upset of Utah on Nov. 3. With the goal against Utah, Farquharson moved into a tie tied for ninth place on ASU’s all-time list with 20 goals. She also became the first Sun Devil to account for 10 or more goals in back-to-back seasons since Patrice Feulner accomplished the feat in 2000-01. Farquharson started off the season by scoring goals in ASU’s first five games to set the school record for most consecutive goals scoring a goal (eight – last three games of 2012 and first five games of 2013).

Twice named the Pac-12’s Offensive Player of the Week in 2013, Marshall finished second on the team in both goals (6) and points (15). In September, Marshall was named the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week and the CS360 National Primetime Player of the Week after she helped lead ASU to a 4-3 double-overtime win over Illinois (Sept. 6) and a 4-0 win over Kansas (Sept. 8) in the annual Sun Devil Classic. Marshall, who was named the Sun Devil Classic MVP, tallied four goals on the weekend, tying her single-game career-high with two in each game, and assisted on teammate Farquharson’s game-winning goal in the 107th minute in the win over Illinois. She earned Pac-12 honors again after scoring the game-winning goal with 19 seconds left in ASU’s 1-0 win over USC on Sept. 30. Marshall concluded her Sun Devil career eighth on ASU’s all-time list with 22 career goals, ninth in points (55) and tied for sixth in game-winning goals (7).
