There are approximately 1,500 student veterans on ASU’s campus and the game will feature an ROTC march, halftime presentation, student veteran profiles and more.

ASU has a rich history of service to our country with more than 7,600 living degreed alumni with a military affiliation as well as 1,300 non-degree ASU Alumni Association members. The football program’s proud history of military service dates back to the initial years of the program's existence, starting in 1898 with three players that were members of the 1st United States Volunteer Cavalry in the Spanish-American War, otherwise known as Theodore Roosevelt's "Rough Riders".

Family and friends established the Pat Tillman Foundation following Pat’s death in 2004 while serving with the 75th Ranger Regiment in Afghanistan. Created to honor Pat’s legacy and pay tribute to his commitment to leadership and service, the Pat Tillman Foundation is a national leader in providing educational support and resources to veterans, active servicemembers and their spouses.

In 2008, the Pat Tillman Foundation established the Tillman Military Scholars program to support educational opportunities for servicemembers and military families by bridging the financial gaps left by the Post-9/11 G.I. Bill. To date, 290 Tillman Military Scholars representing 34 states and attending 92 academic institutions nationwide have been awarded over $4.1 million in scholarship support.
