TEMPE, Ariz.—Six members of the Arizona State University cross country teams have earned Pac-12 Conference All-Academic honors, conference commissioner Larry Scott announced on Wednesday.

On the men’s side, redshirt junior Garrett Baker-Slama earned his third-straight year of First-Team honors while redshirt senior Steven Schnieders earned a First-Team nod for the fourth time in his Sun Devil cross country career.

Baker-Slama has posted a First-Team high 4.00 GPA, and is majoring in Kinesiology, while Schnieders has a 3.83 GPA, and is pursuing his masters in taxation.

Rounding out the selections on the men’s side is redshirt sophomore Daniel Wong, who was named to the Second-Team. Wong has a 3.35 GPA and is pursuing a double major in mathematics and computer systems engineering.

On the women’s side, juniors Shaina Corbin, Shelby Houlihan, and Kayla Springford were each named to the Pac-12 Women’s Cross Country Honorable Mention All-Academic list.

This marks the second time in her career that Houlihan has received an honorable mention nod from the league.

To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.

While Houlihan focuses on the 2013 NCAA Cross Country Championships, in Terra Haute, Ind., on Saturday, the rest of the Sun Devils will now set their sights on the 2014 NCAA Track and Field season, set to begin on January 17 at the Lumberjack Invitational.
