Twelve Arizona State swimmers, six from the men’s side and six from the women’s, will represent the Sun Devils this weekend as they are bound for Knoxville, Tenn. for USA Swimming’s AT&T Winter National Championships. The three-day event spans from Dec. 5-7 from Allan Jones Aquatic Center at the University of Tennessee and is open to swimmers of all nationalities.
The six men’s swimmers set to compete for Arizona State include David Adalsteinsson, Richard Bohus, Thibaut Capitaine, Alex Coci, Zac Dalby, and Kyle Sockwell.
On the women’s side, Sun Devil competitors include Tristin Baxter, Kat Simonovic, Jonsdottir Ingibjorg, Jennifer Morgan, Tory Houston, Melanie Busch, and Juanita Barretto.
Certain qualifying times are mandatory to make the list of competing swimmers at the Winter National Championships, meaning these 12 ASU swimmers are among the tops in the country with their speeds in the water. A total of 40 U.S. National Team members are expected to swim at the meet, including 16 members of the U.S. 2013 FINA World Championship Team, as well as a combined six gold medalists from the men’s and women’s sides. The field sets up to be one of the best meets in the United States since the World Championships.
Preliminaries will begin at 7 a.m. MT on Dec. 5 with the same start times on Friday and Saturday. Finals will begin on Saturday night, Dec. 7 at 5 p.m. MT. A live webcast of the entire duration of the meet will be available at usaswimming.org, and national television will broadcast highlights from the meet on NBC on Saturday, Dec. 21 from 3-4 p.m. MT.
