The Arizona State University football team hosted a free Sun Devil Youth Experience Clinic at Sun Devil Stadium that brought more than 700 kids together with the 2014 ASU coaching staff and student-athletes for a few hours on Saturday, March 22.

“My son has been playing football since he was four, but this is his first experience here,” Jennifer Steward, a parent of a participant, said. “We all went to ASU and just to have him experience this on an upper level is amazing. He’s so excited.”

The players and coaches led participants in position drills that covered form tackling, ball skills, running and blocking, among other fundamentals, and they ran out of the Tillman Tunnel to AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck,” and listened to a talk from head coach Todd Graham.

“I was one of these kids growing up in Los Angeles, so anytime that we have an opportunity to teach kids, get them to laugh and show them how fun football is, it’s awesome for me,” redshirt junior quarterback Mike Bercovici said.

It was the perfect time for the Sun Devil football team to show their young fans their appreciation toward them as they wrap up the first of five weeks of spring practice.

“Collectively as a team, we are guys who love our fans and appreciate where we come from,” Bercovici said. “When these kids walk off the field they’re going to know that these college football players care, and one day I hope they’re able to be in our shoes.”

This special event would not have been possible without generous donations from the sponsors in our Sun Devil Family. Papa John’s provided pizza, Whataburger brought the desserts, Eat The Ball contributed snacks and Jason's Deli delivered 1,000 bottles of water.

ASU officially kicks off the 2014 football season on Saturday, April 19 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with the annual Sun Devil Football Fan Fest. The event is free of charge and offers the only opportunity to see the defending Pac-12 South Division Champions compete during the spring,

Sun Devils who attend Fan Fest have a chance to win a trip for two to the ASU vs. Washington Game Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014 at Husky Stadium. The giveaway includes hotel, airfare and tickets for two to the game. Click here for contest details and to enter.

Sun Devil Athletics will host activities for fans of all ages beginning at 9 a.m., with the on-field portion of the event set for an 11 a.m. start. Check back with thesundevils.com/fanfest over the next three weeks for more details on additional activities, contests and more.
