COMPLETE BALDY CASTILLO INVITE RESULTS

TEMPE, Ariz.—The Arizona State track and field team wrapped up its first home outdoor meet of the season, the Baldy Castillo Invite, on Saturday at the Sun Angel Stadium.

Junior Cameron Taylor won the 110m hurdles at 14.04, which ties for No. 8 in the ASU record book with Fair Hooker’s 13.8y time from 1968.

ASU went 1-2-3-4 in the 100m dash, led by redshirt junior Devan Spann’s 10.37. Senior Keith Cleveland came in second at 10.61, senior Will Henry in third at 10.77, and freshman Marcus Setoki in fourth at 10.79.

Spann and Cleveland also went 1-2 in the 200m dash, at 21.08 and 21.22, respectively, while Setoki took third at 21.68.

Redshirt freshman Ashley Weber won the shot put with her final throw of the day coming in at 14.39m (47-2.50).

Redshirt junior Bryan McBride made his 2014 debut with a win in the high jump as he cleared 2.14m (7-0.25), also used his second of two long jump attempts to take third at 7.38m (24-2.50).

The Sun Devils used a strong anchor leg from Keith Cleveland in the 4x100m relay to win at 40.08. Trae Armstrong led off, passing to Will Henry, who passed to Devan Spann.

In the 4x400m, the team of redshirt sophomore Cody Moore, Cameron Taylor, sophomore Kyle Elliott, and sophomore Blake Elliott won the second section at 3:18.05 and placed fifth overall.

The women’s 4x100m relay team of sophomore Jasmine Gibbs, junior Brianna Tate, senior Alycia Herring, and freshman LaTroya Franklin was edged by Kentucky’s ‘B’ team by a hundredth of a second, 44.94 to 44.95.

Redshirt junior Alex Hartig took third in the discus at 48.93m (160-06). Hartig also took fourth in the javelin at 45.74m (150-01). The mark is the new No. 3 mark in the ASU outdoor record book.

Herring took third in the long jump with a best of 6.02m (19-9.00), while Gibbs took fifth at 5.58m (18-3.75).

The women’s 4x400m relay team of junior Sara McDonald, Alycia Herring, sophomore Kiera Bulluck, and senior Sarah Geren also took second, finishing at 3:39.56.

Franklin opened her collegiate outdoor career with a win in the 400m dash at 54.46, while senior Asiah Gooden took fourth at 57.76. On the men’s side, Trae Armstrong took second in the 400m dash at 48.28.

Also opening her outdoor career was freshman Micha Auzenne in the 100m hurdles at 13.92 for second overall.

Redshirt junior Amber Pasternak took second in the women’s pole vault competition, clearing 3.70m (12-1.50), while sophomore Andrea Kemmerrer cleared 3.55m (11-7.75) for a tie for fourth.

Redshirt senior Derick Hinch led the Sun Devils in the men’s pole vault, clearing 5.20m (17-0.75) for third, while redshirt senior Chris Manuele cleared 4.90m (16-0.75) for a tie for fifth. Redshirt sophomore Tanner Greeley and freshman Dillon Groener each cleared 4.74m (15-7.00).

In the 800m run, freshman Kala Stone took second at 2:10.11, followed by junior Payton Schutte in fourth at 2:15.35, freshman Chelsey Totten in fifth at 2:18.61, and freshman Mia Townsend in sixth at 2:21.85.

The Sun Devils went 3-4-5 in the men’s 800m run, led by redshirt sophomore Jesus Rivera’s 1:51.46, and followed by redshirt sophomore Trevor Landry’s 1:51.53, and Michael Julian’s 1:51.58.

Juniors Macy Bricks and Shaina Corbin went 2-3 in the 3000m run at 10:12.65 and 10:13.13, respectively, and Geren took second in the 400m hurdles at 59.84.

Up next, the Sun Devils will host its second meet in as many weeks, the ASU Invite, March 28-29 at Sun Angel Stadium. The Saturday portion of the meet will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Networks.
