SANTA CRUZ, Calif. -- The No. 28 Arizona State men's golf team completed the final round of the 68th Annual Western Intercollegiate from Pasatiempo Golf Course in Santa Cruz, Calif., bringing home a tie for 6th place. ASU jumped two positions in the third round Sunday afternoon.
ASU (354-365-353-1027) finished a combined 22-over par, tied with No. 22 USC and one stroke ahead of No. 12 Texas. Stanford (347-349-344-1040) took 1st place for the team championship and was the only school to finish under par (-6). Washington came in 2nd place at +6, and Cal followed in 3rd place at +8.
Blake Cannon (72-72-68-212) and Max Rottluff (75-70-67-212) headlined the golfers for Arizona State, finishing in a tie for 18th at 2-over par. Cannon came into the day at 4-over but shot 2-under on Sunday, thanks in part to an eagle on the par-5 9th hole for the second consecutive round. He also birdied three holes, aiding his leap on the leaderboard from 34th.
Rottluff had an impressive third round, rounding out at 3-under for the day. He birdied five holes through the final 18 holes and jumped all the way from 44th in the field to finish in 18th.
Austin Quick (70-73-73-216) barely missed out on the top 10 after round one, but back-to-back rounds of 3-over left him in a tie for 41st at 6-over after he began the day in 25th. Jon Rahm (70-77-71-218) bounced back from a tough second round and shot 1-over on Sunday, but still finished in a tie for 45th at 8-over.
Nicolo Galletti (73-74-74-221) and Broc Johnson (69-76-76-221) finished tied for 54th at 11-over par.
