Herb Sendek has announced the signing of 6-6, 215-pound Savon Goodman, as the UNLV transfer and Philadelphia prep product will have three years to play three seasons beginning in 2014-15. He is expected to be eligible after the 2014 fall semester.

"Savon is extremely athletic, very versatile and can rebound," says Herb Sendek, who has five 20-win seasons at Arizona State in eight years. "We love his athleticism and he will fit in well with our other newcomers and our returners."

Goodman played at UNLV in 2012-13 and averaged 3.6 and 2.4 rebounds before transferring to Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, Iowa, but did not play in 2013-14.

A 2012 graduate of Constitution High School in Philadelphia, Pa., Goodman averaged 25.8 points, 14.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game as a senior and led the Generals, coached by Robert Moore, to a record of 23-9 and the PIAA state, Philadelphia Public League and district titles. He was selected as a Parade All-American and was a member of the USA Elite National Team that won gold at the FIBA 22u World Championships in France in April 2012. He also earned MVP of the Public League in Division A and was voted first team and garnered first-team All-Southeastern Pa. honors by the Philadelphia Inquirer. Prior to attending Constitution High School, he spent three years at Academy of the New Church Boys School in Bryn Athyn, Pa. He was rated the nation's No. 72 recruit by Rivals.com and No. 18 at his position, and he also played football as a freshman and sophomore.

Born Sept. 27, 1993 in Philadelphia, Savon R. Goodman is the son of Verdell Goodman and John Lloyd. He was also raised by his aunt, Heather Smith-Goodman. He has a younger sister, Imani, an older sister, Quentia, and an older brother, John Lloyd. His uncle, Lewis Lloyd, played in the NBA for seven seasons (mostly with the Houston Rockets).
