ATHENS, Ga. - In the second round of the 2014 NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Singles Championship, ASU sophomore Desirae Krawczyk fell to Hayley Carter of North Carolina 6-2, 6-2 on Thursday afternoon.
"It was a tough match today as Desirae (Krawczyk) ran up against a very good player in Hayley Carter who is playing really well," ASU head coach Sheila McInerney said. "Desirae (Krawczyk) got off to a good start unforced errors and while she did not play as well as she has been, give credit to Hayley (Carter) for her play."
Krawczyk fell in two identical sets after defeating Frances Altick of Vanderbilt 6-2, 7-5 the day prior in the first round.
The loss capped off the 2014 season for the Sun Devils -- a season that saw impressive wins during both the regular and post season from the senior-less squad.
"All in all, it has been a breakthrough year for Desirae (Krawczyk) and she needs to keep working hard and build off her progress," McInerney said.
