SEATTLE - Right-hander Zak Miller had his best outing in conference play this season, but the 13th-ranked Arizona State University baseball team gave up five late runs in a 7-2 loss to Washington in the final regular season game of the year on Sunday at Husky Ballpark in Seattle, Wash.

Miller tied his career-long with 5 2/3 innings and conceded two runs on five hits in a no-decision. He had his best conference-game start of the season as he set lows in hits and runs allowed, and had his longest outing.

The Sun Devils (35-20-1, 16-14) tallied five doubles and collected an RBI from both third baseman Michael Benjamin and right fielder Trever Allen as ASU twice tied the game before conceding three runs in the seventh and two in the eighth.

Huskies leadoff hitter Erik Forgione scored the first run of the game on an RBI single by center fielder Jayce Ray after he was hit by a pitch, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt and stole third to give UW an early lead, 1-0.

Benjamin briefly tied the game at one run apiece with a two-out RBI double in the top of the third, but the Huskies retook the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the frame on an RBI single. Left fielder Jake Peevyhouse scored the tying run from first after taking a one-out walk.

Catcher Max Rossiter walked and advanced to third on a double by designated hitter Nate Causey before a sacrifice fly by Allen knotted the score at two runs apiece in the top of the sixth.

The Huskies used three singles, a double and a fielding error by Allen to knock in three runs in the bottom of the seventh to take their third lead of the game, 5-2. UW added a pair of runs in the eighth on a two-out single and a fielding error by Peevyhouse to stretch its advantage to five, 7-2.

UW starting right-hander Zach Wright took a no-decision after tossing 4 1/3 innings of one-run baseball. He gave up four hits and four walks, and struck out one. Tyler Kane (2-2) gave up one run on just one hit to earn the win and Trevor Dunlap (6) secured the save with two scoreless innings.

Left-hander Brett Lilek (2-1) entered the game with two outs and two runners on base in the fifth and escaped the jam with a groundout before he surrendered a pair of runs on two hits in the sixth to take his first career loss.

Right-hander Darin Gillies gave up one unearned run against a pair of batters in the sixth and left-hander Matt Dunbar was responsible for two runs, including one earned, on two hits in 1 1/3 innings. Right-hander Ryan Burr faced two batters in the ninth and allowed one hit and struck out one.
