LOS ANGELES – The 20th-ranked Arizona State women’s gymnastics team heads to Los Angeles for its second road meet of the year as the Sun Devils (5-2, 2-1 Pac-12) take on the No. 9 UCLA Bruins (2-2, 2-1 Pac-12) Saturday, Feb. 8 at 1:30 p.m. MT/12:30 p.m. PT on the Pac-12 Network.

The Gym Devils have already proven to be a formidable opponent on the road, upsetting Washington in Seattle and recording a sizable away score of 195.900 that will help the team’s RQS standing further along in the season. The NCAA uses a gymnastics team’s RQS score to determine NCAA postseason standing.

The Gym Devils also had one of their best meets, individually, on the road at Washington. Sophomores Allie Salas and Risa Perez set career high marks of 9.875 on vault and floor, respectively, in Seattle.

ASU is off to its best start in eight years, recording a season-high score of 196.000 at home against Cal. The Sun Devil’s score of 196.000 was the highest score awarded in January since the 2006 season.

With its best team ranking since 2010, No. 20 Arizona State is ranked in the top-25 nationally in three of the four events. The Sun Devils are ranked 16th on vault, 20th on the uneven bars and 22nd on floor.

The fourth-ranked Bruins are coming off of a 196.575-195.550 victory over Cal on the road, for which freshman Hallie Mossett won Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honors. UCLA is known for its strength on floor and is ranked fourth in the nation on the event.

The Pac-12 is the strongest conference in the nation with all eight gymnastics teams ranked in the top-25: No. 4 Utah, No. 9 UCLA, No. 12 Stanford, No. 13 Arizona, No. 16 Oregon State, No. 20 ARIZONA STATE, No. 22 California and No. 24 Washington.

Jim Watson and Olympic Gold Medalist and Arizona State graduate Amanda Borden will broadcast the meet on the Pac-12 Network.
