TEMPE, Ariz. - The 9th-ranked Arizona State baseball team racked up 25 hits in a 18-6 victory over Grand Canyon on Tuesday night at Brazell Stadium in Phoenix. The Sun Devils (17-4) have posted four straight games with 15 or more runs scored. The Antelopes fall to 9-4 on the season.

The 'Lopes got on the board first when second baseman Ronnie Holtorf homered to leftfield with one man on in the bottom of the first. ASU responded with five runs in the top of the second and never relinquish the lead. Designated hitter Scott Goodman doubled to leftcenter in the top of the second to get things started for the Devils. Second baseman Mark Ernster tripled to bring home Goodman then scored on an error by the third baseman. First baseman Mitch Jones singled to left and advanced to third on a failed pick off attempt by the GCU pitcher, Brian Gerlach. He scored on a ground out to the shortstop by leftfielder Brett Cadiente. Leadoff hitter Willie Bloomquist reached on an error by the second baseman and scored on a double by Jay Sitzman. Chip Gosewisch then doubled to leftcenter to score Sitzman. Catcher Casey Myers flied out to deep leftfield to end the inning.

Goodman went 5-for-6 with three runs scored and one RBI to pace the Devils. Senior Andrew Beinbrink turned in a 4-for-5 performance at the plate, including three RBI and two runs scored. Goodman, Beinbrink and Dustin Delucchi all recorded homeruns in the game.

Starting pitcher Drew Friedberg (2-0) picked up his second win on the mound going five innings, allowing five hits, four runs, three earned runs with four strikeouts and one walk. For the 'Lopes, starter Brian Gerlach (0-1) took the loss going three innings, allowing nine hits, seven runs, four earned runs with one strikeout.

The Devils travel south to Tucson this weekend for the three-game non-conference series with the Arizona Wildcats (14-4) beginning on Friday at Sancet Field.
