STANFORD, Calif. - The No. 15 Arizona State men's swimming and diving team was defeated by the No. 2 Stanford Cardinal 127-107 in a dual meet on Friday afternoon at the Avery Aquatic Center. The Sun Devils recorded several outstanding performances, highlighted by senior All-American Nick Brunelli securing wins in both the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle. The meet was conducted in short course meters.

Brunelli clocked a 22.45 in the 50 to record the win. According to the latest Taper & Shave College Quick 50, his converted time into short course yards of 20.11 is the 13th-fastest in the nation. In the 100 it was more of the same for the Pan Am gold medalist, who notched 49.52-which converts to a 44.36 short course yards time-the 14th-fastest time in the country. Both of those efforts were good for NCAA consideration.

Sophomore All-American David Kolozar dominated the field in his marquee event, the 200 butterfly, touching the wall over three seconds faster than his nearest opponent with a 1:58.18. The time converts to a 1:45.88, the seventh-fastest time in the country, and is a NCAA consideration time. He is one of only three Sun Devils to ever swim under 1:46.00 in this event.

In the diving pool, the Sun Devils got one victory each from sophomore All-American Joona Puhakka and junior Gordon Blukis to sweep the springboard events. Puhakka scored a 363.52 on the 1-meter for the victory, with Blukis recording a 296.55 to finish second. Both scores exceed NCAA qualifying standards. On the 3-meter, Blukis notched his first win of the season with an effort of 316.80. Puhakka came in second with a 312.52. Both scores again exceeded the NCAA qualifying standard.

The No. 20 ASU women compete against the No. 4 Stanford women later on Friday. Both of the Sun Devil teams travel to Berkeley on Saturday for a matchup with California at 1 p.m.
