Hogue joins the Sun Devils from Socastee, S.C., where she competed as a level-10 gymnast at Gymnastics & More. In her JO qualifying regional, Hogue was named Regional Floor Champion and finished fourth overall in the All-Around. This past year Hogue was named the South Carolina State Champion on vault, beam, floor and also earned her fourth-consecutive State All-Around Title.
"Gilly is someone our coaching staff worked really hard recruiting," said Spini. "I think she's very talented. I think she she's going to help us in several events, if not the all around. They watched what she's doing and brings a lot our program at Arizona State."
Wanamaker, a native of Washington, N.J., competes as a level 10 gymnast at Parkettes National Gymnastics Center, gym of current Sun Devil gymnasts Morgan Steigerwalt and Alex Cope. In 2010 Wanamaker earned Junior International Elite Status and competed in the Visa Championships. Top cap off her successfully year, Wanamaker was named the level 10 Pennsylvania State Champion for 2012.
"I think Kellie brings a lot of experience to the table," said Spini. "She was a former elite athlete. She is very talented in all four events. We really like the way she competes and her mental discipline. She is just an aggressive athlete and she keeps getting better and better every time we watch her compete. I think Kellie felt the University, academics and coaching staff were the right fit for her at Arizona State."
Both Hogue and Wanamaker will join the Gym Devils in the fall of 2013. Arizona State opens up the season at home hosting Oklahoma on Jan. 12 at 2 p.m. MT in Wells Fargo Arena.
