TEMPE, Ariz. (www.TheSunDevils.com) -- Former Sun Devil catcher Cody McKay (1993-96) became the second Arizona State alumni in the last week to receive a September call-up. McKay was added to the Oakland Athletics roster this week and when he makes his major league debut will become the 77th Sun Devil to play in the big leagues.

McKay hit .288 with 57 RBI in 108 games at Triple-A Sacramento and led the River Cats with a career-high 13 home runs. The 28-year old, whose father Dave played for the A's from 1980-82 and coached for Oakland from 1984-95, was originally drafted by the A's in the ninth round of the 1996 draft. McKay has bounced between the Double-A and Triple-A levels since 1998, and played sparingly with the big club in spring training.

As a Sun Devil, McKay hit .301 in his three full seasons at ASU, with 42 doubles, six triples and 17 home runs.
