TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State baseball program signed 20 student-athletes to compete and play at Arizona State in the 2000-2001 season announced head coach Pat Murphy today.
"As much as I shy away from emphasizing recruits, this is an incredible class," said Murphy. "And as always, it stresses Arizona student-athletes."
ASU cleaned up in the state of Arizona, signing all of the top prospects from around the state. Local signees are: Rod Allen, Jr.,IF/OF, Phoenix (Desert Vista), Joseph Durbin, RHP, Scottsdale (Coronado), Andre Ethier, OF, Glendale (St. Mary's), Steve Garrabrants, IF, Phoenix (Moon Valley), Brett Harper, IF, Scottsdale (Desert Mountain), J.J. Of the 20 student-athletes signed only two are junior college transfers. Fourteen of the 18 freshmen prospects are projected to be in the Top 100 High School Players nationally in 2000.
