EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - Lisa Bowyer scored 20 points as No. 18 Oregon squeaked past Arizona State 58-53 and moved into sole possession of first place in the Pacific-10 Conference on Friday night.
Oregon's (21-4, 12-2) won its seventh straight game to take a half-game lead over No, 13 UCLA in conference standings.
The Bruins were idle Friday night and will play Southern California on Saturday.
The Ducks could never pull away from the Sun Devils (10-12, 4-9) and trailed early in the second half but Bowyer tied the game at 29 on a layup and then put the Ducks ahead with a 3-pointer to make the score 32-29.
Oregon never trailed after that but could never really shake Arizona State.
The Sun Devils tied the game twice and pulled within a basket numerous times before Oregon was able to cushion its lead to five points with 29 seconds left.
Bowyer was 4-for-11 from the field and 11-of-14 from the line to go with five assists and a crucial steal in the final 1:26 with the Ducks leading 55-51.
Brianne Meharry added 10 for Oregon while Rachel Holt and Natalie Tucker paced the Sun Devils with 11 and 10 points respectively.
