TEMPE, Ariz. (www.thesundevils.com) -- Arizona State University men's swimming finished fifth at the Pac-10 Men's Swimming Championships held in Federal Way, Wash. at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center.

In the 1,650-yard freestyle, ASU freshman Gal Nevo (Kibbutz Hamalia, Israel) finished third by recording the school's sixth-fastest time in the event by touching the wall in NCAA consideration time of 15:07.37. Right behind Nevo was sophomore teammate Lucas Azevedo (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) who finished fourth with a NCAA consideration time and school's seventh-fastest time in history clocking a 15:09.53. Sophomore C.J. Nuess (Medical Lake, Wash.) finished 11th for the Sun Devils with a time of 15:22.66. Finishing in 17th place was ASU senior Micah Carlson (Hawthorne, Calif.) recording a personal-best time of 15:42.39.

Senior John Zemaitis (Scottsdale, Ariz.) finished 16th overall in the 200-yard backstroke recording a time of 1:54.89 in the finals. During the preliminaries, Zemaitis touched the wall in 1:51.60 for the team's second-fastest time of the season in the event. Freshman Brandon Pierson (Lake Forest, Calif.) finished 18th for the Sun Devils with a time of 1:54.16 in the finals and 1:53.60 in the preliminaries.

In the 100-yard freestyle, freshman Mohammad Madwa (Kuwait City, Kuwait) touched the wall in 46.10 to finish fourth in the C final for the Sun Devils. Senior Tom Hickman (Sugar Land, Texas) recorded a time of 45.79 during the preliminaries. Also swimming in the preliminaries was junior Richie Crowder (Los Gatos, Calif.) who recorded a time of 45.87 and senior Alex Smith (Houston, Texas) who touched the wall in 46.40.

Sun Devil senior Joey Clements (Rowland Heights, Calif.) finished sixth in the 200-yard breaststroke recording a NCAA consideration time of 1:59.74. During the preliminaries, Clements recorded the second-fastest time in school history touching the wall in 1:59.03. Also recording NCAA consideration times in the 200-yard breaststroke was freshman Marcus Titus (Tucson, Ariz.) and junior Leo Martins (Garanhuns-PE, Brazil). Titus and Martins recorded times of 2:00.58 and 2:00.67 respectively.

Senior David Kolozar (Budapest, Hungary) finished fifth in the 200-yard butterfly recording the sixth-fastest time in school history with a NCAA consideration time of 1:46.70. Also swimming in the event was senior Brett Meconis (Farmington Hills, Mich.) who recorded a time of 1:54.62 in the finals and a 1:54.35 in the preliminaries.

The ASU relay team made up of freshman Sean Boyle (Lake Elsinore, Calif.), Titus, Azevedo and Nevo finished sixth in the 400-yard freestyle relay recording a time of 3:03.48.

Next up, ASU diving will compete at the NCAA Zone E Championships held in Oklahoma City, Okla. March 9-11. Fox Sports Arizona will air a recap of the meet March 12 at 2 p.m. MST.
