Ordonez Leads No. 14 Women's Golf in Day One of PING/ASU Invitational

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State women's golf team finished the first round of action in the PING/ASU Invitational with Daniela Ordonez notching a two-under score on the day. Arizona State sits tied at tenth overall through the first day of the tournament, hosting 17 different schools over the weekend.

The junior had a first-round score of 70, which is her lowest score so far this season and ties her current career low. Ordonez notched four bogeys in the round to finish two under par. She is currently tied for 11th with eight other golfers. Junior Laura Blanco finished one stroke behind Ordonez, tied for 19th with a score of 71.

Fellow junior Justine Lee was the next lowest scorer, shooting a two-over 74. Noemi Jimenez, ranked sixth nationally heading into the tournament following three consecutive top-three finishes, notched a score of 76 on her first round. It tied the sophomore's second-highest round score of the season. Emilie Alonso sits at +9 after her first round of play. Nicole Jones, who is playing the tournament as an individual, set a career best with a score of 77, the first time she's broken into the seventies range.

The PING/ASU Invitational continues Saturday and Sunday at Karsten Golf Course. The tee time for both days stands at 7:30 a.m. Live scoring is available at
