AUBURN, Ala. -- In dual meets against the No. 4 men and No. 5 women of Auburn, Arizona State's 12th-ranked men's and 19th-ranked women's swimming and diving teams were defeated Sunday at the James E. Martin center in Auburn, Ala.

The Sun Devil men fell 128-115 and dropped to 3-3 on the season, while the women were topped 131-106 and moved to a 4-3 record. Swimmers from both ASU teams had met Auburn with Florida in an invitational meet Saturday.

Senior diver Marc Briggs won both the 1-meter and 3-meter dive competitions with total scores of 336.15 and 308.30, respectively. Natalie Burgess was a winner for the women in the 3-meter with a mark of 269.10.

Also picking up wins for the men was senior Scott VonSchoff, who remained undefeated through 18 races in dual meet action this season. In the 100 yard freestyle, VonSchoff swam 44.31 to defeat Auburn's Greg Busse. In the 200y free, VonSchoff finished one-two with teammate Anders Lyrbring in 1:37.98 and 1:38.65, respectively.

ASU got another sprint win from junior Simon MacDonald in the 50y free. MacDonald touched ahead of Auburn's Eric vanGoethem in 20.65. Nick Brunelli finished third in 20.94.

On the women's side, juniors Sarah Baham and Riley Mants combined for ASU's only individual wins. Baham, swam the 200y butterfly in a first-place time of 2:01.27, while Mants took the 200y breaststroke in 2:15.95.

With a tough road trip complete, the Sun Devil teams will take a weekend off before welcoming to Tempe the likes of Stanford, California and Northern Arizona (with San Diego for the women) over three days of home aquatic action from Jan. 19-21.
