Arizona State baseball player Willie Bloomquist (Port Orchard, Wash.) went 1-for-4 at the plate as the USA Baseball Team defeated Colombia, 6-4 at the World Championship Qualifier in Managua, Nicaragua yesterday.

The Americans collected six runs on 5 hits, committing one error while the Colombians managed four runs, on 12 hits with one fielding error.

Catcher Josh Bard hit his first homerun with Team USA with a solo shot in the bottom of the seventh.

To ensure qualification for the World Championship in Italy, the USA must win one of its remaining two tournament games.

On Wednesday evening, the USA Baseball National Team will face Nicaragua in Managua, Nicaragua, as the World Championship Qualifier continues. Casey Fossum is slated to start for the United States.
