TEMPE, Ariz. (www.TheSunDevils.com) -- Arizona State shortstop Dustin Pedroia has been named as a first-team All-American by Baseball America and a second-team selection by CollegeBaseballInsider.com. Junior starting pitcher Jason Urquidez also earned honorable mention All-America honors from CBI.

Pedroia (Woodland, Calif.) hit .393 (96-for-244) with 24 doubles, nine home runs and 49 RBI. He was the second-round selection of the Boston Red Sox (65th overall) and ended his ASU career ranked seventh in the record books with a .384 batting average. Pedroia has also earned first-team All-America honors this season from USA Today/Sports Weekly and the NCBWA, and second-team honors from Collegiate Baseball. Pedroia became only the fourth player in ASU history to earn first-team All-Pac-10 honors in three straight years.

Urquidez (Simi Valley, Calif.) led the ASU pitching staff going 12-3 with a 3.41 ERA. The transfer from Central Arizona College was drafted in the 11th round (318th overall) by the Cincinnati Reds. His 12 wins are the most by a Sun Devil since Andy Torres registered 13 wins in 2001 and the most by a starting pitcher since Marc Barcelo also had 12 in 1993 when he was named the Pac-10 Pitcher of the Year. Urquidez was named first-team All-Pac-10 and was listed on the Clemens Pitcher of the Year Award Watch List.
