Despite sweeping several events, the Sun Devils swimming and diving teams fell to the Stanford Cardinal. The women fell 184-110 while the men's final score was 140-97.
Micky Benedetti handily swept the diving events. The junior from Rome won the one-meter with a NCAA automatic qualifying score of 381.00 and the 3 meter with a score of 425.10.
Caitlin Andrew won two events for the Sun Devil women. She earned an NCAA consideration time of 50.77 in the 100 free. Andrew also clocked in an NCAA "B" cut in the 100 fly, coming in at 54.34. Andrew also led off the ASU's winning 200 free relay. The team of Andrew, Jen Beckberger, Lindsey Brown and Jess Perazzo came in under the NCAA "B" cut with a time of 1:33.50.
CJ Nuess swept that the men's distance free events. He won the men's 1000 free, clocking in a solid time of 9:19.67 and later placed first in the 500 free with a time of 4:29.88. Nuess also competed in the 200 IM. He touched in at 1:51.36, good enough to finish second overall.
The Sun Devil women swept the 50 free. Jen Beckberger won the event, coming in at 23.46. Jess Perazzo placed second at 23.89 while Katie Haron came in third at 24.11. Beckberger also placed third in the 200 free with a time of 1:51.41. Perazzo placed second behind Andrew in the 100 free with a time of 51.73.
The Sun Devil men swept the 200 breast. Collin Gladys placed first with a time of 2:06.30. John Dwelley came in second at 2:08.70 and Eddy Salcido placed third. Sean Boyle placed third in the 200 free, coming in at 1:15.42.
The Sun Devil women also swept the 200 IM. Ashley Evans won the event with a solid time of 2:04.98. Lindsey Russenberger was second with Rikka Brunner coming in third. Ellis Schieman placed second in the 500 free. The senior clocked in a time of 5:03.06. Erin Hobbs placed third in the three meter with an NCAA automatic dive of 312.75. Brittany Jumer placed third in the one meter with a dive total of 253.13.
The Sun Devils stay in the Bay Area to compete at California tomorrow.
