ORLEANS, Mass. -- Arizona State's Casey Myers recorded two hits and played a pivotal role in a two-run eighth inning to help lead the Team USA National Team to a 3-1 win over Taiwan.

Myers, who hit .412 with 97 RBI for the Pac-10 Champion Sun Devils in the spring, plated the go-ahead run for the Red, White and Blue in the eighth inning to improve Team USA's unbeaten streak to 14 consecutive games.

The Casa Grande, Ariz., native started the summer slowly, but after recording three hits in his last two games has improved his average to .280 (14x50). Combining his ASU and Team USA statistics, Myers is hitting an incredible .389 (112x388) with 18 home runs and 101 RBI.

Team USA will play one more game in the States Tuesday evening vs. Taiwan in Pawtucket, R.I., before heading off for a 10-day tournament in The (Aug. 4-14). The Honkball Tournament will feature an interesting match-up with Myers and ASU Head Coach Pat Murphy squaring off. Murphy is over in Holland prepping the Holland National Team for the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia.
