WICHITA, Kans. --Arizona State's first grand slam of the season could not have come at a better time. Jeff Phelps blasted his fourth home run of the season over the centerfield fence to cap a six-run seventh inning that brought Arizona State back from a two-run deficit and hand ASU an 8-4 victory over Arkansas in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Arizona State advances in the winner's bracket to play Oklahoma State, a 13-4 winner over Georgia Tech, at 5 p.m. PDT on Friday. The game can be heard live on the internet through ASU's home page: KMVP 860-AM will air the game on a tape-delay basis following the Arizona Rattlers' game.

Arkansas drew first blood with three runs in the first two innings against ASU starter Ryan Mills. ASU chipped into the lead at 3-2 before the Razorbacks (37-20) extended it to 4-2 in the top of the seventh. In the bottom of that inning, Mikel Moreno singled to bring home two runs and tie the game at 4-4 before Phelps blew the game open with the grand salomy.

Mills went six innings, gave up eight hits and three earned runs while striking out six. Aaron Kramer earned the win, pitching ASU out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the seventh, before closing the door in the eighth and ninth. He gave up only one hit while striking out two in 2.1 innings.

Moreno led the Sun Devils with three hits in five at bats, driving in two while scoring a pair. Casey Myers was the only other Sun Devil with multiple hits, collecting two.
