TEMPE, Ariz.--Arizona State University's football team, the winningest program in the Pacific-10 Conference over the past three seasons (26-9), begins spring practice Saturday, March 7 at 9:45 a.m. (MST) at the Bill Kajikawa Practice Facility.
Under seventh-year head coach Bruce Snyder, the Sun Devils will practice 15 times as per NCAA regulations. The dates include: March 7, 9, 10, 12, 23, 24, 26, 28, 30 and 31, and April 2, 4, 6, 7 and 9. The Spring Game will be held on Thursday, April 9 at Sun Devil Stadium at a time to be determined. Weekday practices begin at 3:30 p.m. (MST).
The 1998 squad will be led by several seniors and veteran players, including offensive stars such as quarterback Ryan Kealy, center Grey Ruegamer, tailbacks J.R. Redmond and Marlon Farlow, flyback Jeff Paulk, wide receivers Lenzie Jackson, Ricky Boyer and Kenny Mitchell and tight end Kendrick Bates. The defense will feature defensive tackle Albrey Battle, linebacker Larry Johnson, and defensive backs Courtney Jackson, Mitchell Freedman and J'Juan Cherry.
ASU opens the 1998 campaign on Saturday, Sept. 5 at Sun Devil Stadium with Pac-10 opponent Washington. The following week (Sept. 12) the Sun Devils travel to Brigham Young for a game that will be televised live on espn2.
