TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State's Willie Bloomquist had a one-for-one evening with one run scored as the United States took advantage of two eighth-inning errors by the Canadian National Team to break open a tie ballgame and coast to a 12-6 win before 3,300 fans on Wednesday night at Waterfront Park, home of the Trenton Thunder (Class AA, Eastern League).

Lefthander Mario Ramos (6-2, 3.62 ERA) erned the win in releif. He tossed three innings and allowed two runs on four hits while strking out three. Starter Alex Santos hurled six innings and allowed four runs on seven hits, but did not figure in the decision. He fanned six batters.

Trailing 8-6 after six and one-half innings, the United States battled back to tie the score in the bottom of the seventh to set up the go-ahead eighth inning for the USA.

Bloomquist is now batting .295 with 18 runs scored, 7 doubles and one homerun for the Americans. He has also swiped five of seven bases.

The USA Baseball National Team and Canada continue their three-game Northeastern tour on Thursday night at Thomas J. Dodd Stadium, home of the Norwich Navigators (Class AA, Eastern League).
