TEMPE, Ariz. -- Through three meets in the young swimming and diving season, four Arizona State swimmers have recorded times in the NCAA top ten for the 2002-2003 campaign. Sophomore All-American ?gnes Kov?cs leads the way with four of her times being among the nation's best, including an NCAA best of 2:13.40 in the 200 breast. Kov?cs is the defending Pac-10 Champion in the 200 breast and is the school record holder (2:07.64). She finished second at last year's NCAA Championships in this event.

Kov?cs also finds herself fourth in the 100 breast (1:02.64), seventh in the 200 IM (2:02.97) and eighth in the 400 IM (4:19.81) in the NCAA this year. She holds the Sun Devil school record in the 400 IM (4:10.77), is second all-time in the 100 breast (1:00.47) and is third all-time in the 200 IM (2:01.27).

On the men's side, freshman David Kolozar, junior All-American Nick Brunelli, and senior All-American Christian Harcsas all have recorded times in the Division I top ten so far this year. Kolozar has recorded the second best time nationally in the 200 fly with a 1:48.51, made even more impressive by the fact that he comes to Tempe with very little experience with short-course yards. Kolozar finished fifth in the 200-meter fly this past summer at the European Championships while swimming for Hungary.

Brunelli has recorded three times in the national top ten through the three meets so far this season. He's sixth in the 50 free (20.47), third in the 100 free (45.06) and seventh in the 200 free (1:39.39). On the all-time ASU list, Brunelli is fourth in the 50 free (19.80) and third in the 100 free (43.24).

Harcsas is listed seventh on the national top times list in the 200 back with a 1:48.42. He is the school record holder in this event (1:43.11) and finished seventh at last year's NCAA Championships at this same distance.

NCAA top times are regularly compiled by collegeswimming.com. The Sun Devils are not in action until the weekend of November 22 and 23, when they head to southern California. The men face USC on both Friday and Saturday while the women compete against UCLA on Friday and USC on Saturday.
