Pac-12 Release | NFCA Top 25 | USA Softball Top 25
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -
Earning her first conference weekly honor, Sam Parlich was named Pac-12 Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon. This is Arizona State softball's 76th weekly honor for the program and fourth this season.

Parlich, a senior from Chandler, Ariz., hit .526 in five games in Fullerton, Calif., at the Judi Garman Classic this past weekend. With a .737 slugging percentage and a .526 on-base percentage, Parlich padded her stats in a huge showing for the first road trip of the season.

Going 4-for-4 with one double and one run scored against No. 15 Michigan on March 15, Parlich set a new single game career high in hits. She backed it up going 3-for-4 with two runs scored against Virginia Tech later Friday night. Parlich closed the weekend with a homer against Pacific, her seventh of the season and 24th in her career - which ties her for 12th all-time at ASU.

For the weekend, she was tied for team best in hits with 10. Overall, Parlich is hitting .384, has 33 hits, 18 runs and 26 RBI. In 86 at-bats, she has only one strikeout this year, ranking her seventh in the nation for toughest to strikeout.

Parlich helped the Sun Devils went 4-1 over the weekend in their first road swing of the season, at the Judi Garman Classic. ASU beat host team Cal State Fullerton 9-0 to open the tournament and then topped No. 9 Texas, the first win against a ranked opponent this year. ASU fell to No. 15 Michigan, 5-4 but rallied back to blow out Virginia Tech 11-0 and edge past Pacific 5-4 in eight innings.

For the second straight week, Arizona State is ranked second in both the USA Today/NFCA and ESPN.com/USA Softball polls. They will stay on the road and will open the Pac-12 conference portion of the schedule at No. 12 UCLA. Though initially scheduled to be on the Pac-12 Network, this weekend's games will not be broadcast on TV.  For the complete ASU softball schedule, which is subject to change, click here.
