TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State Men's and Women's tennis teams swept their competition this weekend at the Whiteman Tennis Center. On Thursday, the 12-ranked women Sun Devils swept Long Beach State, 9-0. Friday, the 17th-ranked men's tennis team proved they were as strong as the women, sweeping Wisconsin, 7-0. Today the two teams were back in action as the women hosted No. 31 UNLV, while the men hosted No. 35 Auburn. The results proved to be the same, as ASU recorded an 8-1 victory over UNLV and another 7-0 sweep over Auburn.
For the men, Gustavo Marcaccio improved his record to 19-8 with an upset victory over No. 4 Mark Loughrin and a 6-4, 6-2 win over Auburn's George Matijasevic. Freshman Matt Klinger improved his record to 10-1 with two victories as well.
Freshman Allison Bradshaw has been playing well for the women as she notched two wins (16-9) this weekend, 6-2, 6-0 versus Long Beach State and 6-4, 6-4 against UNLV. Bradshaw is also part of the No. 17 doubles team. She and partner Katy Propstra defeated their 49er opponent 8-1 and dispatched the Rebels of UNLV, 8-2.
