Arizona State's Willie Bloomquist (Port Orchard, Wash.) turned in a 3-for-5 performance as the USA National Baseball Team cruised to a 19-5 win over Mexico on Saturday night at Hi Corett field. The Americans completed a four-game sweeep of Meixo and boosted their overall season record to 23-9.

Bloomquist scored two runs, had one RBI, drew one walk and smacked two doubles on the night.

The United States whacked 12 extra-base hits, including two homers in the rout. Team USA garnered 19 runs on 21 hits with two errors while the Mexican National Team managed five runs on nine hits with two errors.

Starting pitcher Jason Jennings (4-1, 1.69 ERA) hurled five strong innings to post the win. He allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits and struck out six batters.

After three days off, the USA Baseball National Team resumes its preparation for the World Championship with three games versus the Canadian National Team in the Northeastern United States. The Northeastern tour includes stops in Trenton, New Jersey, Norwich, Connecticut and New Haven, CT. Starting pitchers for the series versus Canada are to be announced.

This year's World Championship is slated for July 21 - August 2, in italy and Sicily and will feature the following teams: In Group A: China, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Italy, Japan, Panama, South Africa and Spain. In Group B: Australia, Canada, Chinese Taipei, Korea, Netherlands, Nicaragua, Russia and the United States. After playing seven games in the preliminary round, the top four teams in each group will advance to the quarterfinals. Semifinals and medal games will follow.
