TEMPE, Ariz. - The No. 13 Arizona State men's swimming and diving team was victorious over the visiting Purdue Boilermakers 180-120 in a dual meet on Saturday at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center. In the short course meters event, sophomore All-American David Kolozar provided several highlights for the home team and was victorious in three individual races.

The triumphant afternoon for the Sun Devil men was spearheaded by Kolozar. The Hungarian's victories came in the 100 butterfly (55.95), the 200 butterfly (1:59.13) and the 800 freestyle (8:20.58). Both butterfly times were season bests while his time in the 200 was a NCAA consideration standard.

Several men recorded two individual wins during the meet for ASU including senior All-American Nick Brunelli, senior All-American Ahmed Hussein and sophomore All-American Joona Puhakka. Brunelli captured both the 100 freestyle (49.62) and the 200 freestyle (1:50.93). His 100 free time is good for NCAA consideration and led a 1-2-3 ASU charge as Pat Fleming (52.40) and Wiley Wallace (52.85) came in just after the Pan Am Gold medalist.

Hussein swept the backstroke events, touching the wall first in both the 100 (55.54) and 200 (2:01.03) with his victory in the 200 coming by over three seconds. Puhakka once again controlled both diving events, winning both the 1-meter (358.90) and the 3-meter (332.65). The Finn led a 1-2-3 sweep in the 3-meter as Thomas McCrummen (292.10) and Gordon Blukis (291.90) claimed the next two spots.

Freshman Pat Fleming got his first victory as a Sun Devil, winning the 50 freestyle in a time of 23.32. Wallace finished just behind with an effort of 23.55.

The Sun Devils swept the relay events, with the 200 medley relay of Hussein, Emerson Ward, Steve McDonald and Brunelli clocking a 1:41.48, while the 200 freestyle relay of Brunelli, Wallace, Rich Crowder and Fleming recorded a 1:32.52.

The men are in action next the weekend of January 23-24, as they travel to Stanford on Friday and California on Saturday.
