Final Stats

BERKELEY, Calif.—Despite notching some great victories on the road during their Bay Area road trip, the Arizona State men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams fell to the California Golden on Saturday in Berkeley, Calif.

The 24th-ranked women’s team posted five victories on the day against the Golden Bears, including a season-high score in the women’s 3-meter diving event by senior and Olympic hopeful Elina Eggers. Eggers scored a total of 335.33 in the event.

Distance swimmer sophomore Tristin Baxter took the first event for the Sun Devils, touching in with a time of 9:56.41 in the 1000 free for the victory. Following Baxter’s victory, junior Shannon Landgrebe also added points to the board for the Sun Devils taking first place in the 200 free with a time of 1:47.55.

Once again, competing in her event specialty, senior Rebecca Edjervik took first place in the women’s 100 breast. The two-time Pac-10 champion touched the wall with a time of 1:01.20. Ejdervik is also the school record holder in the event.

Senior Penelope Yamauchi took first place in the 200 breast, touching in with a time of 2:16.64. Ejdervik took home a close second place with a time of 2:17.56.

On the men’s side, senior Constantin Blaha took first place in both diving events, earning his highest scores of the season. In the men’s 1-meter springboard, Blaha scored a total of 364.50 in the event. Fellow senior Cameron Bradshaw and freshman Kevin Olson finished two and three in the event with scores of 352.43 and 303.53, respectively.

In the men’s 3-meter springboard, Blaha, handily took the event with a season-high score of 437.55. The reigning back-to-back Pac-10 champion in the event has already qualified for the NCAA Zone E Championships with his scores from the beginning of the season.

Sophomore Hayden Thomas finished in second place in the 1000 free. The distance swimmer touched in with a time of 9.36.38. Freshman Deniz Hekmati also finished in second place in the 100 back with a time of 58.17.

Next up, the Sun Devils return home for their State Farm Territorial Cup match-up against Arizona on Feb. 11 at 1 p.m. PT.
