The Arizona State men's golf team finished tied for 6th-place at the North Ranch Intercollegiate, finishing off with a combined round of 300 to close out the tournament from North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village, Calif. Freshman Max Rottluff continued his streak of consecutive top ten's to start the spring season, upping his tally to ten.
The Sun Devils (299-296-300-895) gained two positions over the final 18 holes after being tied for 8th heading into Tuesday's third and final round. Their final round 300 was third-best among all schools on the day, trailing only No. 10 ranked USC and BYU, who finished first and second respectively. ASU tied with UC Santa Barbara.
Max Rottluff (71-72-77-220) finished tied for 10th, once again leading all Sun Devil golfers. Rottluff has now started the spring season with four-straight top ten finishes. He shot seven-over par for the round, on a day where only the top two golfers finished under par.
Another freshman, Alberto Sanchez (73-75-76-224), completed the final round second among all Arizona State golfers in 26th-place, showing the quality play of the freshman players on the squad. The third freshman of the trio, Jon Rahm (79-75-72-226), placed in 30th, four positions behind Sanchez. Rahm's third round 72 was tied for third-best among all golfers in the final round.
Following up his best finish of the season trying for 25th at The Prestige, Austin Quick (76-74-75-225) continued his consistent play, finishing at 12-over par and tying for 28th-place. He jumped five positions from 33rd after the conclusion of the second round.
Trey Ka'ahanui (71-81-77-229), also a freshman and playing as an individual, finished tied for 41st after shooting an open round of even par. Mathias Schjoelberg (80-75-80-235) rounded out Sun Devil golfers tying for 53rd.
Yi Keun Chang of USC took home the individual championship, finishing at two-under par.
ASU will next head to Chula Vista, Calif. from Mar. 11-12 for the San Diego Intercollegiate.
