TEMPE, Ariz. (www.TheSunDevils.com) -- Arizona State sophomore Travis Buck has earned his second consecutive and third career Pac-10 Player of the Week award after a solid series at the plate against nationally ranked East Carolina last weekend.

He becomes the 16th player in Pac-10 Baseball history to earn back-to-back player of the week honors and the first since 1998 by California All-American Xavier Nady. He is the first Sun Devils since Oddibe McDowell in 1984 to earn back-to-back Pac-10 Player of the Week honors.

Buck (Richland, Wash.) hit .500 (5-for-10) with three home runs and five RBI in the three game sweep of the No. 18 Pirates. He is one of the hottest hitters in college baseball, batting .682 (15-for-22) with five doubles, four home runs, 18 RBI and a 1.455 slugging percentage over his last six games. For the season, Buck leads ASU hitting .431 (25-for-58) with five home runs and 28 RBI.

The player of the week honor for Buck marks ASU's 74th all-time dating back to 1979, most among conference schools. The Devils have now won three of the four Pac-10 Player of the Week awards in 2004, with junior shortstop Dustin Pedroia also picking up the honor on Feb. 24.
